If you’re planning a December celebration, especially if it’s a snowy Colorado destination wedding, you may be considering adding some cozy holiday details to your day. We’ve planned some gorgeous holiday weddings over the years and they’re always absolutely magical. The key is to include a few festive touches without going overboard. Often, just a few carefully chosen details will give you the perfect seasonal vibe and get your guests feeling very merry! So, here are ten of my favorite holiday wedding ideas from the Bella archives to inspire you.

Set the tone with a festive tablescape. For example, a greenery runner dotted with pinecones pairs beautifully with sparkly linens and fine china, and really captures that holiday vibe.

A seasonal bouquet is a must for a snow bride! For example, you could incorporate large white blooms, red berries, and lots of greenery to subtly reflect the classic holiday color palette.

And don’t forget the groom! Make sure his boutonniere is suitably festive by using fragrant pine or a sprig of holly.

Get your guests into the spirit of the season with a holiday themed cocktail hour. Serve Christmassy drinks like candy cane martinis or spiked eggnog, and pair them with mini mince pies and roasted chestnuts instead of traditional canapés.

A winter wedding cake is a must! If you’re having a mountain destination wedding, then you could have a mountain themed cake to match. You can also elevate a classic white tiered cake with glittering snowflakes and branches for a real winter wonderland feel.

Of course, evergreen wreaths aren’t just for the holidays, but they still make a lovely addition to a December wedding. Hang pine or eucalyptus wreaths on church doors, or use them to dress up a bare wall at your reception instead. You could even have your bridesmaids carry wreaths instead of bouquets.

One of my favorite holiday wedding ideas was the Christmas tree backdrop we created for this snowy outdoor ceremony. The design also featured lots of white pillar candles in glass hurricanes lining the aisle. It looked gorgeous!

If your venue has a fireplace, be sure to take advantage of it! For example, you can use it as a focal point for the ceremony or reception and even hang stockings for a whimsical holiday touch!

Lighting is so important to create a cozy feeling and nothing says winter warmth like lots of candles. Likewise, don’t skimp on the twinkle lights! Both will add to the festive ambience.

Giving your guests ornaments as wedding favors is a great way to send the holiday cheer home with them. For instance, display them as escort cards, or place one at each place setting.
