As a Colorado wedding planner, I’ve been lucky enough to see and plan events in some gorgeous settings. After all, the Rocky Mountains make quite a backdrop! But today I want to introduce you to a property that’s truly extraordinary. Knapp Ranch, situated in the Vail Valley, is a working farm built on sustainable practices and responsible land stewardship. It’s the kind of place where you feel wholeheartedly in tune with Mother Nature. Recently, I’ve been lucky enough to work with Knapp Ranch to help bring awareness to their mission and event facilities. As part of this, I planned an immersive experience for a handful of wedding planners, so they too could get a taste of the rustic setting, as well as its history and conservation work. It’s a passion of mine to make the events industry more sustainable, earth-friendly and responsible and Knapp Ranch is really leading the charge. Knapp Ranch was originally an informal country retreat for Bud and Betsy Knapp, the founders of Architectural Digest and Bon Appétit. Their mission was to build a home that looked like it had been there for a hundred years, and also would last for at least another hundred. To accomplish this, the main lodge and all four cabins were built using authentic pioneer construction techniques and tools, pushing the creative boundaries of the traditional craftsmen who worked on the project. The result is an exceptional mix of modern, environmentally-friendly luxury, and authentic Western design. It’s the kind of exclusive destination wedding weekend venue that your guests will never forget.
The main event space at Knapp Ranch is Marmot Lodge. It’s a gorgeous two-storey lodge with Swedish influenced style, tucked away in a grove of trees. The interiors are stunning, but it’s out on the event lawn that your guests will really be wowed by those incredible mountain views! We enjoyed a magnificent al fresco luncheon there, including delicious organic produce grown right there on the farm.
Knapp Ranch offers different options depending on the size and style of your wedding. You can choose to use Marmot Lodge only, or include use of the Main Lodge as well. Accommodations in the luxurious sleeping cabins are also available. You can have up to sixteen guests staying on the property. Then, treat guests to guided tours of the ranch orchard, bees and research facilities. Or allow them to enjoy an art walk, morning yoga or forest bathing. You can also arrange for skeet shooting, fishing or hiking excursions. By the end of the wedding weekend, you won’t want to leave!
