The place where you make your forever vows to the person you love is special and sacred, wherever that is. But with the majestic scenery we have here in the Rockies, an outdoor wedding ceremony is almost a must-do! Whatever the season, Mother Nature provides the most glorious backdrop, and it’s one that you and your guests will always remember. Of course, over the years, we’ve planned some spectacular outdoor ceremonies. From mountaintops to wooden decks to gardens to fields, each location has been unique and beautiful. But beyond the setting, it’s those extra little details that also make each one stand out. So here are ten of my favorite outdoor wedding ceremony ideas from real Colorado destination weddings. Prepare to be inspired!

Unlike an indoor wedding, one of the best things about an outdoor celebration is that you get to choose the focal point of your ceremony. Mark the spot with a gorgeously rustic floral arch. Alternatively, you could dress up an existing arch or gazebo with flowers and greenery.

Of course, your arch doesn’t have to be an arch at all! Instead, use an unusual shape or structure like a circle or triangle, or for the ultimate in boho chic, create a teepee altar of branches and greenery.

Whatever the season, it’s important to keep your guests comfortable. If you’re getting married in summer, then that means sunscreen and bugspray. And if the weather is cooler, then provide wraps or blankets to keep them cozy.

A refreshment station is also a great idea, so guests can stay hydrated as they take their seats. This couple also added custom napkins and cups with their wedding logo for an extra personalized touch.

For a backyard or hotel wedding, a pool can create a truly unique ceremony feature. Build a temporary walkway as an aisle, line it with lanterns, and you can also place flowers in the pool for an extra magical touch!

Outdoor ceremonies also open up the possibilities for a unique ceremony entrance, whether it’s by horseback, boat or ski lift. (Or even mini cart, if you’re this adorable little flower girl!)

Lead the way to the ceremony with creative wooden directional signs, like these ones, which were made from recycled vintage explosive crates!

Although individual chairs are the usual choice for an outdoor wedding, ceremony benches make for a great alternative. Dress them up with flower markers, rugs or pretty cushions.

For a rustic outdoor wedding, tree stumps serve as ideal stands for floral arrangements or even as an altar substitute.

Lanterns also make for great aisle accents, whether clustered around the altar or placed at the end of alternating rows.
