Colorado Castle Destination Wedding Inspiration

Working on a new styled shoot is always a wonderful opportunity. It means we can let our imaginations run wild, take a few creative risks, and watch as something fresh and exciting emerges. Shoots are also a chance to collaborate with talented local creative partners like photographer Jared Grant. For this shoot, we decided to look to the past for our inspiration and take our cue from last summer’s royal weddings. We set about creating a castle wedding that was regal, elegant and a little bit moody. Rich colors and sumptuous gold detailing created a warm indoor contrast to the winter snow. Meanwhile, opulent textures like heavy lace, wood and (faux) fur perfectly complemented our stately castle venue.

The Redstone Castle absolutely feels like something from the pages of a storybook. In fact, it’s hard to believe you can find it tucked away in the Colorado mountains and not somewhere in England or Germany. The castle was built for industrialist and coal magnate, John Cleveland Osgood, and has hosted guests from presidents to kings. The interior features antique furniture by Gustav Stickley and Louis Comfort Tiffany. So we wanted our design to enrich and enhance this incredible setting rather than compete with it.

At the same time, we wanted to balance vintage and modern elements. For the table, we seamlessly blended contemporary pieces from Event Rents with antique ones, for a timeless look. The gorgeous floral arrangements created by The Aspen Branch formed a stunning focal point. They included lush jewel colored centerpieces in heavy metal urns and trailing greenery. The dining room looked fit for a royal banquet! (To be finished off, of course, with Katy Pierson‘s wonder of a cake!)

Our groom looked dapper in a classic tux, while the bride wore an exquisite lace gown from La Valée Bridal. Her sweet side braid formed an understated bridal tribute to the classic Elsa style. You could just imagine this wedding being the happy ending to a fairy tale! And so they lived happily ever after…
