Wyoming Ranch Wedding Shoot Featured in The Knot Magazine

Today we’re sharing a very special Wyoming ranch wedding photo shoot we recently produced that has just come out in the latest issue of The Knot Magazine! We’re so thrilled to have our work featured in this wonderful magazine once again and especially this photo shoot, because it’s so near and dear to our hearts.

Back in 2016, we had the pleasure of planning the wedding of Hallie Hamilton and her wonderful husband, Sam. Hallie is a talented artist who, two years later, helped concept this shoot with us! We love keeping in touch with our clients, but getting to work as a professional team with a past bride is a real treat. Hallie is here today to share a bit about the photo shoot and how it came to be, inspired by mountain sunset hues, color blocking and an elevated Wyoming ranch wedding style a bit outside the norm.

Back in 2016, my family hired Emily and the Go Bella team in Breckenridge to plan our destination wedding in Vail, Co!  My husband and I live in Austin, TX but we wanted to have our wedding in Vail, the place where we’ve created many memories visiting in the summer and winter.  For almost 10 months, Emily, my mother, and I worked together to create my dream wedding. I am an artist which makes me incredibly visual, so putting together all the pieces that go into a wedding had my creative juices flowing for a long time, I couldn’t get enough of it!  Emily and I had so much fun together that when the wedding was over, I think we were both brainstorming ways to work/be together again!

That’s when Emily called and had a genius idea to incorporate original abstract artwork as the backdrop for the ceremony at a Wyoming ranch wedding. I stretched out a 6 ft x 8 ft canvas down in Austin, created an original abstract that coincided with the overall wedding palette and then drove the piece up to Brush Creek Ranch in Wyoming for our shoot.

Emily wanted bold and We.Went.Bold. Think mustards, saturated teals, and deep crimsons all within in a rustic ranch setting. Jessica Stapp of Eclective Hive did a brilliant job bringing in lounge vignettes and furniture that enhanced a color blocking idea. On site, I collaborated with Katy Pierson Cake’s cookie escort cards by hand painting touches of our color palette directly onto the cookies while Katy calligraphied the guest names. I also hand painted artistic touches onto our invitations and menu cards that correlated with the large abstract piece of artwork that served as the focal point and backdrop for the wedding ceremony. The best part for me was during our ceremony shot; seeing this enormous piece of artwork surrounded by a field full of wildflowers and grazing horses as the sun set over the mountains.

The vision for this shoot came time life thanks to Emily but could only be achieved and produced with the efforts of an entire group of talented women. We spent months of preparation and three days at Brush Creek Ranch in Wyoming working together on the shoot. I was honored to be included with such a talented group of women who are not only creative, but successful business owners.

I cannot claim the idea of incorporating original artwork into a wedding design; that was Emily’s idea. But as the artist behind this vision, I see how the addition of original artwork to a wedding ceremony or reception adds tremendous value. Not only can a couple work with me on their vision and color palette for the big day, but they are investing in a piece of artwork for their wedding that won’t just be torn down at the end of the night.

We loved the idea of commissioning an artist to create something that would also serve as an incredible keepsake and memory, and were so fortunate to have one of our own past brides tackle the task. Thanks Hallie and the entire team for your wonderful talents!
