Here’s a wedding for the history books! Dave and Mackenzie Southard had their wedding at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO, a small town in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The Stanley is a beautiful hotel built in 1909, known for its marvelous architecture and location. Interestingly, much of the Stanley’s history comes from the people who have stayed and visited the hotel over the years.
Diplomats, musical artists and actors have all stayed at the Stanley. To name one in particular, Stephen King. After staying at the Stanley he became so intrigued by its grandeur that he wrote a novel with the hotel as the main character in The Shining.
Although known as one of the most haunted hotels, we witnessed nothing spooky while there, only magical. The Southard’s wedding was as enchanted as they come. The newlyweds chose to have the wedding ceremony outside with a striking view of the mountains set behind them as they said their vows.
The reception couldn’t have been lovelier! The Stanley provided a wonderful space and once the decor was set the room took on a sense of easy charm that everyone could love and appreciate. The Southard’s created signature bride and groom cocktails with swizzle sticks that had adorable photos of their dogs on them. Instead of cake they had a variety of mini-pies that were not only delectable but oh-so-cute! Even the groom added his touch by showing his love of hockey in the form of hockey puck escort cards.
The bride looked just stunning as did her gorgeous bridesmaids. And did I mention that the groom and his groomsmen wore true Colorado dress shirts!
Congratulations to the new beautiful couple, Mr. and Mrs. David and Mackenzie Southard!
